Between photos, videos, music, and school documents, you might collect a lot of files on your phone! The File Manager app helps you find the files you’re looking for and keep everything organized.
When you open your File Manager app, you’ll see the different types of files you can save on your phone. Tap a category (ex. Videos) to view the folders and files in it. Tap a file to open it.
If you have a microSDXC card in your phone, you can also tap SD card to see the files saved on the card.
Your File Manager app has a Documents folder where you can save files like Word documents, Powerpoint presentations, and more. Keep in mind you won’t be able to open the documents on the Gabb phone. This is, however, a great way to keep your files for school organized.
If you have a lot of school files, you can create a folder for each class or even each project.
To work with one or more files, tap and hold to select it. Select all the files you want to work with and tap the three dots in the top right of the screen.
Add as favorite: Add the file to your Favorites folder.
Move: Move the file to another folder. You can also create a new folder to move the file to.
Copy: Create a copy of the file, while keeping the original.
Compress: Save the file as “zip.” This makes the file smaller.
Add to home screen: Add a shortcut to the file to your Gabb Phone’s home screen.
Set audio as: Set an audio file as a ringtone.
Rename: Rename the file.
Details: See more details about the file, like its size and where it’s saved.
Select all: Select all the files on the screen.
To delete a file, tap and hold the file to select it. If you want to delete more than one file, select all the files you want to delete. Then tap delete.
To search for a file or folder, tap search and type any part of its name.
In certain folders (ex. Favorites), you can sort files in different ways. Tap the three dots in the top right of the folder screen, and choose to sort by file name (alphabetical), file size (largest to smallest), file type, or modification time (when the file was last changed).
To share a file, tap and hold to select the file you want to share. You can select more than one file. Then tap share and choose who you want to share the file with.
Remember, you should only share files with someone you know well, like a family member or classmate.
Some files that are important to how your phone works are hidden from view. You can view these “system files” by tapping settings from the File Manager app’s main screen. Tap the button by Show local hidden files to toggle on.
System files are important. It won’t hurt to view your Gabb Phone’s system files, but don’t delete or move them. It could change how your phone works.
To see how much storage your files are taking up on your phone, tap Storage analysis from the app’s main screen. You can see how much room is taken up by each type of file.
You’ll find that some files, like videos, take up more room than others.
If you’re running out of phone storage, delete some files or move them onto another device like a microSDXC card or a computer.
